As a member of the Jesuit Schools Network, Rockhurst High School subscribes to a decision making process denoted as the “Synergy Cycle”. As Rockhurst continues to explore the viability and impact of active learning, Rockhurst will be using the process seen below. Some specific examples follow.

Research Question Does Active Learning improve a student’s growth mindset?
Evaluation Administer a pretest of students in Active Learning Classrooms regarding the level of their growth/fixed mindset.
Recommendation Train teachers to leverage active learning spaces in order to conduct learning activities that are both productive but incorporate struggle.
Decision Identify ‘fostering a growth mindset’ as a goal for the active learning spaces.
Action Analyze subsequent mindset data to determine potential changes in students in the active learning spaces.
